Containental Starts the Year with £960k ($1.5 Million) Contract Wins

Aberdeen-based Containental Offshore (Containental) has strengthened its presence in West Africa following a series of recent contract wins in the region.

Containental – which designs and supplies specialist cabins, containers and baskets for the oil and gas industry – has secured three significant contracts with a combined value of more than £960,000 (over $1.5million) with Baker Hughes, Schlumberger and Madeira-based firm Portumo.

The contract with Baker Hughes will involve the delivery of 33 baskets and containers for housing specialised tools, which will be utilised in projects in Ghana and Equatorial Guinea. Containental will also supply 26 baskets and half height containers to Schlumberger for use in Equatorial Guinea and 18 baskets and containers to Portumo for use in Angola.

Managing Director at Containental, David Nightingale, said: “These contracts have all been awarded on the basis that we were able to comply with customers’ need for a quick response. We have a wide range of stock units situated in various bases across the globe, meaning that the required modules are available for shipping with almost immediate effect.

“We are also handling the logistics for each of the contracts to ensure that deliveries are made within the required timescale. Growing our international presence over recent months has allowed us to have stock on the ground closer to customers and their projects, therefore increasing our ability to service their needs whilst providing a high quality product.”

Containental has also secured a six-month rental contract with logistics firm Kuehne and Nagel for up to 50 units. The deal will involve mobilising containers and baskets from Containental’s stock in both the Netherlands and the UK for use by Exxon Mobil in Angola.

David added: “While West Africa is not a new area for the oil and gas industry, it is becoming an increasingly important area for us and the business that we do there now accounts for around 10% of our annual turnover.

“All of our stock units comply with DNV 2.7-1 standards, meaning that customers can safely deploy them anywhere in the world. This standard is becoming increasingly important for clients in the West Africa region and this has therefore played a key role in our recent success there.”
