Key appointment accelerates OEG’s journey to net zero
Global offshore equipment leader OEG Offshore (OEG) today added further pace to its decarbonisation strategy with the appointment of Keith Blair as Sustainability Manager.
The key role builds on existing initiatives and accelerates OEG’s global effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and minimize the impact of its activities on the environment.
Keith, who brings more than 25 years of experience in environmental, safety, and aviation assurance roles in the oil and gas, nuclear decommissioning, and hazardous waste management industries, is a Chartered Environmentalist and Waste Manager and will lead on the development and implementation of OEG’s environmental, decarbonisation and sustainability policies.
Based at OEG’s purpose-built Cairnrobin facility, Keith is looking forward to working with OEG’s teams across all 37 countries where it operates, as soon as possible.
Keith comments, “I’m very grateful for the welcome and enthusiasm shown so far for the sustainability drive. It will be a company-wide effort to deliver both our near and long-term sustainability commitments and identify efficiencies and initiatives to further reduce our environmental impact.
Our Environmental, Social and Governance performance is rapidly becoming part of the accepted ‘social licence to operate’ and input will be required from all of us to help protect our environment, people, reputation, and present and future business.”
One of OEG’s latest initiatives is to move to a fully electric van fleet in the UK.
Blair comments, “Our new Maxus eDeliver 3 all-electric vans, supplied by Current Commercials Limited in Peterhead, use composite plastic and aluminium rather than steel for body panels, which helps offset the weight of the battery for payload and increases the range.”
This announcement comes swiftly after OEG’s latest renewables-focused acquisitions of Pegasus Welfare Solutions, Fern Communications and Hughes Subsea Services to further expand the range of niche critical services and solutions that the OEG group offers to facilitate sustainable global projects.
OEG currently supports energy customers with a versatile range of offshore cargo carrying units, temporary living quarters, workspace modules, waste handling solutions, welfare units and radio communication systems. Additionally, the company provides aviation support services, bespoke design and engineering along with a portfolio of integrated subsea services.
OEG has more than 60 bases spanning 6 continents and has supplied the offshore market with specialist offshore equipment and services for more than 45 years, on a fully managed, rental or sales basis.
