Our history and key milestones that define us

OEG’s heritage dates back more than 45 years; its predecessor companies Ferguson Seacabs,  Gauthier Rentals and Containental Offshore were among the pioneers in the supply of equipment to the North Sea offshore energy industry.

These companies have a long history and made a mark with their technical know-how and skills in supporting projects both locally and internationally.

From 2010, after the re-branding to OEG Offshore, OEG has increasingly become an international player with a global footprint and a successful worldwide customer base. OEG has continued to develop on this global path to creating one of the leading offshore cargo carrying equipment suppliers in the world.

Over the years, we have always remained focused on our customers, operational excellence and supporting the market’s ever-changing needs. Here we look back on some of the milestones in our history; the key moments that have created the OEG Offshore you see today.

In the beginning

1970s

1976
OEG’s heritage dates back more than 45 years with the formation of predecessor company Ferguson Seacabs in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire on the back of the first oilfield in the UK North Sea, the Argyll coming onstream.

1979
Across the Atlantic Ocean, Gauthier Rentals established in the US Gulf of Mexico as a leading supplier of DNV 2.7-1 certified containers and baskets.

Containental Offshore is formed to support North sea customers

1991

Containental Offshore, one of the predecessor companies, was originally founded in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1991 and quickly established an offshore container rental business supporting a wide range of North Sea customers.

Containental Offshore offered a wide selection of DNV 2.7-1 certified containers and baskets for most oil and gas operations for their operations in the harsh environments of the North Sea. The introduction of a high quality and safer certified product was in high demand given the challenges of the Oil & Gas Industry at that time.

Far East cooperation builds fleet

2002

Containental expanded its fleet through an exclusive far east cooperation. This allowed for further expansion in product volume, types and also geographically with the ability to now ship batches of units in support of offshore international drilling and production operations.

This exclusive cooperation allowed Containental to significantly control the manufacturing process and offer greater benefits to customers on price and delivery. The standard designs for units also increased to provide us with one of the largest portfolios of unit types available.

OEG establishes US Gulf of Mexico agency

2007

Containental Offshore appointed an agency in USA for the Gulf of Mexico region. This launched the introduction of the first Containental Offshore DNV271/EN12079 equipment into region.

Based in Louisiana, in the heart of the oilfield operating service companies, the push was on for the development of local customers in the USA and Mexico. Having local CCU's on the ground provided a good advantage and allowed for a quick turnaround of DNV certified equipment for short term and ad-hoc customers.

RTH Lubbers appointed as service partner

2008

Containental Offshore appointed RTH Lubbers as their operational agent in the Netherlands. This expansion provided opportunities for larger contracts managed locally by Lubbers offering a personalised service to our customers.

This relationship is still going strong to this day and has been expanded to include Italy, Romania & Germany.
