Vertec Engineering (Vertec) has been awarded two contracts worth more than £300,000 to design and build laboratory modules for use in the offshore sector.

The company has secured a deal with Oleochem to design and manufacture an A60 Zone 2 rated laboratory unit for use on a Shell Nigeria Exploration & Production Company FPSO in the Bonga field, West Africa.

Lift weight issues mean that the unit will be designed to be broken into two manageable sections to enable easier transportation and to minimise weight for the final lift before it is reinstalled onboard the FPSO.

Vertec will also provide a similar A60 Zone 2 rated laboratory module for Hilton Instruments after clinching a further contract with the company.

This unit will be used on Woodside Energy's CWLH redevelopment project, off the North-west coast of Australia. Vertec's role will include designing the module and its electrical, pressurisation and HVAC systems, with the final installation of the equipment on board the Okha FPSO also carried out by Vertec field commissioning personnel.
